Janie Glade
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, Janie started her career in special event planning at the age of 23 in the sales office of the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel. As early as 1988 she was volunteering to work on the gala committees of several local charities. Her work with these charities led to a position as marketing director for the New Orleans chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. During her tenure with The Make-A-Wish Foundation she was responsible for many of the fundraising events. In 1998 Janie started An Event to Remember and began planning special events (including weddings, bar-mitzvahs, anniversary parties, birthday celebrations, debutante parties, and corporate social functions) across the United States on a full time basis.
After Hurricane Katrina, Janie opened Weddings by Janie Glade. In August of 2011 she expanded her Wedding Planning services to include a partnership with her daughter Marylyn Rigby and opened Old.New.Blue, a Wedding Necessities Boutique and Gift Shop. Janie and her experienced staff work with brides from all over the United States. "My job is to make dreams come true" Janie says. "I take that responsibility very seriously. I am very aware that a bride and groom’s wedding memories are in my hands. Planning a wedding is all about communication. First I meet with and listen to what the couple has in mind. Then my entire team works with them to make their ideas a reality. I am always aware of the budget. It is very important to guide clients in the direction they want to go without putting them into debt. I’m very creative and have been in this business long enough to know where the best value for the money is. I love what I do and I consider it an honor to be a part of these life events."
